Herbarium specimens are digitized using Herbscanner and Nikon D810 camera, which produce high-resolution images, with the label information recorded in the database. This strategy aids in the long-term preservation of precious herbarium specimens by reducing frequent handling and making them more accessible.

Until date, the National Herbarium and Plant Laboratories have digitized 1,53,000 herbarium specimens, with a total of 1,43,410 specimens available online at plantdatabase.kath.gov.np.
